This magnificent lure has already obtained outstanding results. The first time the Old Blue Paua was used,  during the Kingfish Lodge - Bayleys Tournament 2001, by Fred Lewis on "Ultimate Lady" a marlin capture was achieved within minutes of the lure being placed in the water. It has gone on to great success locally in NZ and Overseas.

An Introduction to Paua 
A Unique New Zealand Product 

Locally known as Paua, this shellfish is a species of abalone (Haliotis iris). Found only in the seas around New Zealand, this marine mollusc eats seaweed and clings to rocks at depths of 1-10 metres, along the shoreline. 

Paua shell is the most colourful of all the abalone shells. Others pale in comparison. Colours vary from greens and pinks to purples and blues. Some even have gold or crimson toning. The colours change when viewed from different angles, with an iridescence similar to that of Mother of Pearl shell, but are far more brilliantly coloured.
